Los Leones and Las Leonas, the Argentine national hockey teams, both suffered defeats to Belgium in the FIH Pro League matches held in Santiago del Estero. With their next matches against Australia, they aim to improve their standings in the tournament.


Argentina's Hockey Teams Face Defeats to Belgium

Los Leones, the Argentine men's field hockey team, suffered a defeat against Belgium by 5-3 in their fifth match of the FIH Pro League. Currently, the albiceleste team is in seventh position with 6 points, having achieved two victories and three defeats in the tournament so far.

The match started favorably for Argentina with a goal from Lucas Toscani in the first quarter, but Belgium quickly equalized thanks to Tom Boon, who ended up scoring three goals in total. Throughout the match, the Belgians dominated the game and had a two-goal lead in the last quarter, with Boon and Guillermo Hainaut as the protagonists.

Despite Argentina's efforts to recover with goals from Thomas Habif and Bautista Capurro, Belgium sealed the match with goals from Thibeau Stockbroekx and Boon. Now, Los Leones will face Australia hoping to achieve a victory and move closer to the top spots in search of qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

On the other hand, Las Leonas, the Argentine women's team, also fell to Belgium with a score of 3-2. They are currently in sixth position with 6 points, having obtained one victory, two draws, and three defeats in the tournament.

Despite starting with an advantage thanks to a goal from Agustina Gorlezany, the Argentines could not maintain the lead. Belgium achieved an epic comeback with goals from Stephanie Vanden Borre (twice) and Alix Gerniers. Las Leonas will face Australia with the objective of adding more points and climbing the ranks in the tournament.
